There are two important, named, female characters: Nora, the hardened kids' TV producer, played by Katharine Keener, and Tommy Cotter, the leader of an Irish mob, played by Pam Ferris.
Nora and Tommy mainly interact with the main character, the idealistic Sheldon, played by Edward Norton, or other male characters, such as (for Nora) Sheldon's sleazy agent (Danny DeVito), or fallen kids' star, Randolph (Robin Williams) and (for Tommy), her simpleton brother, Spinner, or the mob men under her control, or the mob's sleazy victims.
They interact at a funeral, but both primarily comfort Sheldon. Later, Nora contacts Tommy directly, seeking her help in finding Sheldon's agent to help him. The movie fails the Bechdel Test because despite the two women being present and important to the plot, their limited speaking interactions with one another are about men.
