Simply wanted to comment that the film is very much about masculinity and masculine interaction, similar to The Thing (1982.) The eventual comfort the men feel in sharing their experiences with one another would be impossible if a female character were present for the majority of the film.

Also, Liam Neeson's character spends a significant amount of time remembering his wife who left him.
