There are about six female characters in the movie: Mae, Jasmine, the woman whose family tries to impress Hub and Garth, a nurse, a phone operator, and one gossipy woman in the hospital. None of these characters speak to each other. Mae and Jasmine, the only named female characters, don't exist within a few decades of each other.
