Doesn't the movie have named women in it? The astronauts wives/girlfriends are shown at a bbq. And we hear the voice of one of them on the tape their son made? IMDB doesn't seem to really mention them though.

The way I understand the test, for "proper" measurement, I use the following:

1. It must have more than one *named* female character. Corollary: These characters must be actual characters, not background, even if named. The women in Apollo 13, while yes, since it's based on reality, they have names; are treated almost entirely as "Mrs. Astronaut"

2. The women must speak to each other. As in: hold an actual conversation. One line from one woman to another doesn't count.

3. They must speak about something other than men. This one is self-explanatory.

The movie has zero named women. The astronauts' significant others were shown at the barbeque and we might have even heard their voices, but they were not named characters. They were minor background characters.

There are three women in the film, shown briefly during home video clips; only one, Ben Anderson's wife, has a speaking role - three lines heard on a tape recorder. The credits on the DVD refer to Ben Anderson's wife by name - Laura - while the other two women are "girlfriend" and "fiance." (IMDB only credits the girlfriend.) I'm also fairly certain that we hear Ben refer to his wife by name when talking to several other men, but I'm not inclined to go back and double-check.

But yeah, there really aren't any women in this film.

Here is a quote, taken from the memorable quotes at

Marilyn Lovell: [Barbara has locked herself in her room] Barbara!
[Knocks on the door]
Marilyn Lovell: Barbara, we're going to hear your father's broadcast!
Barbara Lovell: No! I'm never coming out! I hate Paul! None of us are ever going to play another one of their records again!
Susan Lovell: She's still going on about the stupid Beatles breaking up?
Barbara Lovell: They're not stupid, *You're* stupid!
