Although this animated movie feature predominantly male characters, there are three named female characters-although even the "named" part is rather ambiguous, as they are named only in the credits but never during the movie.(which means: nobody calls them by name) Their dialogues are purely plot-driven, and although there is one occasion a princess character talks about a male character, it is to state that she trusts him as a loyal subject with no romantic feelings involved. In fact, none of the female characters are in romantic relationships nor are represented in a sexual manner, and funtion efficiently in minor yet essential roles within the story. However, neither are they prominent, leading characters, but merely act as instrumental figures-although, to be fair, male characters are treated the same as well. Overall, the female presence in this film is non-offensive yet not particularly feminist.
