Bechdel Test Movie List

While Carly and Sam are in the NEST HQ, Carly, Mearing, and Sam have a brief exchange about Mearing's term of address.

That is not a conversation between two women, it is between two women and a man. My understanding was that it had to be a conversation between two women only.

Also:

1.Carly is routinely compared to cars.
2. She is almost tentacle raped by a car.
3. The only supposedly "strong" thing she does is gossip to one machine about another, and then call 'him' a bitch.

Well- if you want to talk about that...

1) Clearly, Carly is smarter than Sam
2) Carly is more successful than Sam
3) Sam was almost tentacle raped in the last movie also, but I suppose that's irrelevant.

Although, this IS Michael Bay, I don't think he's ever going to pass a Bechdel test. :P

Okay, putting aside the fact that Carly as a character fails the 'sexy leg lamp' test and the bizarre notion that it is impossible for two women to have a conversation about something other than a man if there is a man present; this movie fails on part 3 because Carly and Mearing do not actually speak TO one another (never mind who is present) about anything but Sam.

Here's a transcript of the Carly/Mearing conversation:

Mearing: This is a unit for veteran intelligence officers and Special Forces, not for boys who once owned special cars.

Carly: That's a bit harsh isn't it, ma'am?

Mearing: Don't call me ma'am. I'm not a ma'am.

Carly: Well, you're a woman aren't you?

While Mearing's first line is directed more at Sam, the rest of it is clearly between herself and Carly. Regardless of your thoughts on Michael Bay or Carly as a character (which I agree with), it still meets all of the Bechdel test Criteria.
