The whole thing was about how she could get that teacher into bed. she did talk about other things but it was brief. Good movie though but it didn't pass that test

i was personally offended by the movie because the woman is clearly a sociopath and an all around terrible person, but because shes attractive, has the admiration of everyone around her and ends up finding love.

I think it passes the test. Before Justin shows up she talks to the other teacher about teaching/not teaching.

sure she's a gold digging skank in the beginning, however she has several conversations about money and her boobs with women. oh and pot.

As I understand it, a movie doesn't fail the test just because the main character was a terrible person (she was) or because the entire premise is offensive. There are lots of reasons why this movie might fail your personal test, but it absolutely passes the Bechdel Test.

(I also disagree with the first poster: arguably NOTHING that she did for the first 90% of the movie was about a man... it was about getting rich, quitting her job and living a life of leisure. Marrying for money was simply a means to an end. No, it wasn't a feminist message, but the lead character wasn't supposed to be likeable, anyway.)

Everything she does is because she wants new boobs to bag a man.
She's an awful role model that has her rebellious characteristics glorified and overrated. She cheats, she steals, she lies - i.e., forsakes all ethics, in order to land a marriage. The principles if applied strictly, afford the movie a pass, but everything is based on a man. FAIL. BIG TIME.

wow people are really missing the point of this movie, we're not supposed to like the character for most of the movie which is what makes the end of the film when she decides to to go after a man for money, and not get her boob job and stay a teacher rewarding. you'd think people watched a completely different movie then me. considering the main character is consistently dominant to the men in the movie who are all portrayed as idiots i fail to see how it is sexist towards women.

You don't go to see Bad Teacher because it has good role models, you go to see it because it's fun to laugh at horrible people. I'm a public school teacher and I thought it was hilarious. I agree that it meets the criteria whether we like the characters or not.

I think it's actually a very clear pass.

The main teacher actually really has a lot of conversation not a bout men with multiple female characters

- The teacher she gets to buy her lunch telling her shes going to blow off the mandatory meeting, getting mad at her for not telling her about the bonus pushing her to smoke weed.
- Mrs Squirrel the more chipper teacher approached her asking her if it's true she's only showed movies or telling her she knows she got by on the bare minimum thing last year.
-The over achiever who came and talked with her a few times the longest one being when she was in her car smoking weed.
- A small bit with the woman at the gym asking about the pill she got from her.

There's also a conversation between two Miss Squirrel and the overachieving student

This movie should not have an exclamation point. The film passes by the objective criteria of the test. End of story.

This website isn't a "Do I think this film is feminist?" repository. It's a "Does this film pass this test about gender bias?" repository. Two very different things. That's why a Barbie movie where all they do is talk about their hair and make up will pass, even if it's non-empowering junk.

As an aside, it's odd that people are flipping out about how she's not a good role model, when the entire point of the movie is about how she SIN'T someone to be celebrated. She's a gold-digger, a skank, crass, unethical, and uncaring. That's why the movie is called BAD Teacher, not GOOD Teacher.

The entire point of the film is that the character starts off as a negative individual, then comes to find that there are more meaningful ways for her to measure her life: actual friendships, being in a career that she is both good at and happy to do, and seeking a partner for his (because she happens to be heterosexual) interests and personality, instead of his money.

Sure, she's never punished for the things she does in the meantime, but the point of the film is that she got out of the scrape, but learns not to do that again and changes her life accordingly.
