This film follows the life and journey of a woman. She also has a woman as her room-mate/friend. The leading lady doesn't talk much (as part of the character's personality) but the two women stick together due to hard times during WWII, and this has created a bond between the two. Although the room-mate does much of the talking (related to men, mostly), many other issues can be felt exchanged between them with the aid of few carefully chosen words from the leading lady.
