A worthy film to watch for intense drama. It is set in an English boarding school during the 1930s and the acting of the main character, Ms. G, is powerful.

Just a note: this one doesn't pass the countertest with males (0/3 in fact, it only has one male character and has no name). It's obvious since the setting is a all-girls English boarding school, but just for the record.

Cracks (2009) is a woman directed (daughter of Ridley Scott, Jordan Scott) film, set in 1934 with strong female characters. This is also a gay film, as it includes a female/female sexual encounter. There are 3 scenes I can think of where women are having a mutual encounter, or discussion, about something other than a man. One of the opening scenes, with Di and Miss G in the boat discussing a forbidden book; in the lavatory, with Di and Fiamma, sharing a bottle of perfume; and at the end, where the girls are discussing amongst themselves their culpability in what happened to Fiamma.
