There are lots of fascinating female characters in this Israeli film, probably more than in many American films that would get a 3 out of 3 pass. There are endless little glimpses into their lives, needs, relationships, and desires. But the film does center around the varying relationships that they all have with the male central character and his family's need to marry him off to an "appropriate" woman.
