Bechdel Test Movie List

I love this movie more than I can express. I've seen it over 50 times! Muriel was actually one of my strongest female role models when I grew up. The insecure, bullied woman who thinks she could only have some value if she is married in the beginning, is not even the same character as the Muriel in the end. In every new shot she is changing and growing, and every move surprises. She is in no manner a cliché, she is a living character. And it's so believable, when watching this movie as a young teenager, I always felt that if Muriel could do it despite that awful environment, then maybe it was possible for someone like me to be happy in the end too.

I also think it's a great film: an atypical rom-com, I'd say.
