Yes, it passed easily based on several conversations not about men between Hanna and Sophie, Hanna and Marissa, Johanna Zadek and Marissa, Hanna and Sophie's mother Rachel. About friendship, lesbians, and being a killer, among other things. Two of the three most prominent characters were female; minor female characters were also present and also helped drive the action.

Unless I missed a minor male character's name, this is one of those rare movies that didn't pass the reverse Bechdel test (two named men speaking to each other about something other than a woman); when male characters spoke to each other, either one of them was unnamed or they were talking about a female character.

I agreed, it passed the test and everything. However, I found it very disturbing to watch how the vilain (Blanchet) is a soulless, insatiable killer because she decided not to have children. All the mother female characters are portrayed as amazing people, almost angelical: Hanna's mother and grand-mother, the English turist. The film really makes a point in explaining that the reason why Blanchet is so evil is that she never gave birth, so she cannot understand what love is, like, at all. Good film, passed the test and good performances, but still, perpetuating such an ideal of motherhood, and the perversion of not wanting/being able to give birth. A bit scary, although not in a good way.

Re: Tina

I agree and also found it disturbing that the isaacs character links alternate sexualities with violent depravity.
