Interestingly, there is one female PRESENCE on the island, and it manages to aggravate the film's Bechdel rating even further. This is the pigs that the boys kill, and one of whose heads, impaled on a stick, becomes the "lord of the flies" deity. In the film, the hunters repeatedly chant "Kill the pig... Bash HER in", thus modifying William Golding's novel, which has "Cut HIS throat. Bash HIM in".
