I counted Linda as the only female character. There was one other woman -- the lady at the daycare center, but she can hardly be considered a character.

Its been a little since I've seen that movie, but I'm pretty sure the woman at the daycare center had a name that is mentioned several times (e.g. when father and son talk about TV-shows, the son says he has senn them at Ms. "..."s). Therefore it should pass the first test imo, because once you start interpreting on what makes a "real" character in a movie you could discuss almost every rating on this page over and over agein...

The woman at the women's shelter that helps Chris find a shelter for men is also named, but only in the movie, not in the credits. Mrs. Chu is credited with a name. But none talk to each other, especially not about a man. It passes the first test, but not the others.
