The only (brief) conversation between two women is between Izzi (Rachel Weisz) and Lillian (Ellen Burstyn), and we only see it, not hear it. But it is mentioned later that the conversation is about death, not Hugh Jackman.

Actually my favorite movie of all time.
Here’s a topic for discussion:
Would any of you, who saw this movie, consider it having an element of ‘reverse sexism’?
As in - the character of Izzy is portrayed as the most enlightened being in the film and raised so high up on the pedestal to the point of a goddess. The complete opposite of a ‘damsel in distress’ and yet fulfilling the same function as a driving force for the main protagonist - Tom.
I found it hard to even consider her as a real character, for being so perfect and practically non-human.
Thoughts?

Making a woman into a goddess-like being and putting her way up on a pedestal where she isn't a real person anymore is not any special kind of reverse sexism it is just regular old sexism. This movie was made for men, as a woman I have always felt acutely that it was not made for me.
