There are four named women, Lady Ashley, her servants Daisy and Bandy, and Cath(Lady Ashleys' colleague). Lady Ashley and Cath does exchange a few centences once but they are concerning men.
It is amazing that a 2 and a half hour movie only makes room for four women and only one of them is important to the story.

While I agree with the rating, I think that this film actually has a lot to do with feminism and also tackles racial issues as well. Lady Ashley goes from being someone confined by heteronormative standards for a woman of that time period to in fact grow into a woman who throws caution to the wind, lets herself fall for a man who is less than the "ideal man" by the social standards, adopts a half-cast child, goes on a muster with a group of men and runs a successful farm. I think the transformation in this film from a feminist perspective is far superior to the norm and almost opposite to the ideals we see in films such as My Fair Lady.
