This is a great, great film about, among other things, suppressed (male) homosexual desire in the late 1960s. While there are essentially no female characters in the film (two very brief cameos of older women, who may be named in the credits but aren't named in the film), it's not a macho or anti-female film. I'm a feminist to the core but this is one of my very favorite films.

There is only one named woman in the film: Miss Blennerhassett who serves cakes and fine wine in the tea shop.
