Lucy and the young girl who stows away have several nice moments together.

I don't think this movie should pass. Lucy barely converses with the young girl, and spends the entire movie wishing she looked like her sister so she could have boys fall in love with her.

I agree with the rating. Lucy and Liliandil's relationship is very important to Lucy's development as a character. They also have conversations which fulfill the requirements of the test. (ie: the "when I grow up I want to be just like you" scene)

I think the rating is good. Lucy doesn't spend the whole movie wishing she looked like her sister - it's one moment in the magician's house, and afterwards she realizes that she was wrong. I think it's actually good commentary, for a young girl to realize that it isn't actually all about her appearance, but about what's inside.

The rating's fine; Joelle is being silly.

Sure, there isn't much conversation between Lucy and the little girl (who does have a name, I just forget it), but that's not what this test is for. Technically one short conversation is enough.

As for Lucy wishing she could be more attractive to boys-- a) that has nothing to do with the test and b) does that mean it's sexist or anti-feminist? No. There are just as many films with plot points about boys wishing they were more attractive to women- What I mean is, gender doesn't matter. A person wishing they are more appealing to the opposite sex is what that plot point is about, the fact that she's a girl is irrelevent.

I agree with the rating. Lucy's conversation with the little girl isn't long, but they exchange significant shared meanings, and their discussion is about appearance and character, not about a guy. That's every single criterion for the Bechdel test.

Joelles commentary is wrong imo, firstly because I don't think her motives are primarily or at all to have boys like her, she just wants to be pretty like her sister. It's envy. And even then it would still pass the Bechtel test because boys aren't the focus of conversation
