To be fair, 90% of this film is just Hepburn and Bogart on the boat with hardly any other characters, male or female.

The African Queen is a classic DISproof of the Bechdel test. No one would claim that Katharine Hepburn's character, Rose Sayer, was "weak" or stereotyped. She's an amazingly strong woman playing against a strong male. The film was a box office success, an Academy Award winner, and is routinely cited in lists of one of the best 100 films of all time. Yet it fails ALL THREE of the Bechdel questions.
