This might be the only movie to fail the reverse Bechdel test -- there are no conversations between two male characters at all. Most of the woman/woman conversations are about fashion and style, but there are many serious discussions of jobs, publishing and life.

Nope, it evens passes the reverse test. There's a scene in which Andy and her boyfriend are hanging out with their friends, and one of those friends is male. Unless I'm mistaken, the male friend and the boyfriend talk briefly (about fashion or something, I think.).

But the question is do both male characters have names?

Two of the women, the main character and her good female friend talk in the friends gallery about Christian. The women talk about this man and Andy's boyfriend. How Andy was totally in love with Nate and now her friend thinks she's cheating with Christian.

Heather, it's not that they're not *allowed* to talk about men, there just also has to be at least one conversation where they talk about something else.

There are a good handful of movies that don't pass the reverse Bedchel test. Many early Disney movies don't; as the male characters are either just as isolated as the heroine or only talk about finding the girl of their dreams. "Kiki's Delivery Service" doesn't pass the reverse test as there are only two named male characters, and they never meet.
I don't really think the interaction with Andy's boyfriend would count if they were the only two women to interaction. I'm pretty sure they didn't actually have a conversation, but I could be wrong.

1- It's Emily who gives Andy all the instructions about the job, and specifically what she has to do to produce the main script of the magazine at Miranda Priestly's home.
2- Miranda Priestly interrogates Andy during the job interview, Andy answers and the editor gives Andy her opinion about her.
3- Miranda tells Andy about her plan to stay as director in chief of Runway in retrospect. Also, there is a final conversation about why all girls want to be like them that is heart-breaking.
[Just as a final question, why are people speaking about reverse Bechdel test?]

Clarinda, the point of speaking about the reverse Bechdel test is that so many movies cannot pass the extremely simple Bechdel-Wallace test that it is almost refreshing to see that there are films made that are female-centric and are well written and just as entertaining as the male dominated ones.
