Bechdel Test Movie List

The men are a side note to much of the drama in this movie. I just watched it for the first time and I don't think I'd seen a movie that had as many women talking in aaaages.

Yes, I agree. Margo Channing, Eve Harrington, Karen and Birdie discuss women and womanhood among other things.

Not only do Margo, Eve, Karen, and Birdie all have a Bechdel Test passing conversation between the four of them - a quadruple'del if you will - they were ALL NOMINATED FOR OSCARS!! No one won, but that's still some sort of Bechdel record!

The film also scored what we've taken to calling an Addams'del, meaning every speaking woman is named and has an individual Bechdel Test passing conversation with each other named woman (or close enough, we named it after Addams Family Values, which in retrospect lacks a few convos to reach that bar... I'd rename it an All About Eve'del, but Marilyn Monroe's Claudia Casswell doesn't get enough time with all the other women to make a fully connected web of every named woman passing the Bechdel. So I guess an All About Eve'del will be when those passing the Bechdel were both or all nominated for awards! (e.g. Chicago))
