This film only has one female “character” who is a love interest for the youngest of the seven. Her function is to represent how the villagers hid the women from the seven for fear they would be raped. In a surprisingly aware moment, Yul Brenner admits that maybe they would have but would like to have been given the benefit of the doubt. Then Steve McQueen immediately becomes surprisingly lecherous towards all the women, kinda proving the villagers’ point.
