I think this passes when she talks to the grandmother about the necklace

I had the misfortune of watching this turkey of a film last night and regretfully, I can report that it definitely passes. Sandra Bullock's character talks to the grandmother, mother and ex-girlfriend although I can confirm that these conversations in no way prevent this film from being one of the most execrable pieces of misogyny I have had the displeasure of sitting through in a long time!

For anyone interested it is essentially a morality tale whereby a senior and highly successful (female) executive undergoes a series of highly improbable unpleasant events culminating in a ritual humiliation at the alter.

Obviously her highly deserved punishment involves her losing her most precious possession (her job), but - and here's the thing - this bitter outcome is negated by the fact that she gets the man.

This passes. The grandmother talks to the women when she is by the fire singing "to the window, to the wall…" Again, when the mother of the guy is asking her about her job and also when she tells her about breakfast.

I actually AGREE with the rating. I think all conversations with the mother, grandmother, and ex-girlfriend are negated by the fact that they're all closely tied to the man, and the only reason she's in a position to talk with them is because of the man and the fact that she's felt pressured to make this "Proposal". Also, the entire premise of the movie is so sexist, I think it's disqualified from the entire Bechdel Test.

The film does pass the test. The grandmother and the protagonist discuss the traditional Alaskan dance and ancestral spirits.
Having said that I also quite enjoyed this very funny film. Sandra Bullock was terrific and she had great chemistry with Ryan Reynolds. I don't think it tries to criticize women for being successful. The scene at the altar wasn't humiliating at all in fact it was kind of dignified as she chose to reveal the truth to everyone rather than marry someone for real just to get an American visa.

Sandra Bullock's character, Margaret, speaks to Betty White (Grandma Annie) and Mary Steenburgen (Grace Paxton) several times about things other than a man. At one point, they tell her they have a surprise for her. She asks if she needs to change her shoes, and they say: "No, you'll love it". At another point, Margaret and Annie talk about nature spirits and releasing Margaret's inner emotions. These, among other examples, clearly pass the Bechdel Test. @Bonnie, that's a fair point, but as long as they're talking about something other than a man, they pass the Bechdel test.
