Although the movie is primarily about impoverished Betty Lou's pursuit of wealthy Cyrus, it does give a decent amount of time to Betty Lou's relationship with her roommate Molly. There is a great scene where Betty Lou defends Molly, an unwed mother, against sanctimonious female social workers. The whole conversation is between women, and is about a woman's right & ability to raise her baby.
(There are a few other important female-to-female conversations as well, not just this one.)
