A secretary's boss is accused of murder and goes sleuthing to prove he didn't do it.
The lead character, Barbara, speaks to other women a few times.
First she argues with Vercel's wife, Marie-Christine, over the phone; Marie demands to see Vercel, then tries to get Barbara to go to the bank for her; Barbara keeps bringing up Vercel as a reason why she can't do what Marie's asking.
Second, Barbara talks to an unnamed maid at a hotel to inquire about Marie's activities; men are brought up.
Third, Barbara confronts a cashier called Paula about the calls she's been making Vercel.
Fourth, she talks to another unnamed woman who's looking to take Barbara's job as secretary; obviously Vercel is brought up a lot as well.
Fifth, Barbara disguises herself as a prostitute to investigate a nightclub and is confronted by an unnamed prostitute, who takes her to see the (male) pimp.
Two unnamed women briefly talk about Barbara.
Conclusion: would've passed if more of the female characters were named.
