There are four main female named characters. The primary conversations occur between Evelyn and Joy, and discuss nihilism, the purpose of life, their relationship to each other, bagels, etc. Evelyn and Deidre discuss taxes.

Agree. This movie passes with flying colors. There are three female leads who are quite literally multidimensional and have incredibly complex relationships with one another that have little to do with men and everything to do with their individual purposes in life. They discuss what they mean to each other, both with contempt and anger, as well as love and forgiveness. They are flawed and fierce and funny and broken, and completely, powerfully real.

I was pleased, though not surprised, to see this movie passed the test. However I would assert that there were strong male characters included as well.
The film did a great job of highlighting and debunking both gender and race stereotypes. In fact, I love that different ages, different body types and even different levels of attractiveness (applause for Jamie Lee Curtis) were brilliantly portrayed, mirroring real life diversity. I was delighted by the ways romantic love was proudly and heartstring-tuggingly presented, with same-gender and midlife pairs.

Oh my, well we can see how flummoxed I am, as I've lost my command of the English language; I'll just stop now. And the subtitles! Yes yes yes yes.
