Bechdel Test Movie List

The movie centers around Ava, played by Jessica Chastain, a hit woman. She has conversations with her sister and mother throughout the film as they try to make amends after years of neglect, but ever single conversation revolves around a fiancé that she and her sister fought over, or their Deadbeat dad who was a cheat.

I feel the Bechdel test should be modified if the lead actor is a woman, especially in cases such as this, where the woman plays such a strong lead character, such as a hit woman; a role typically reserved for male actors. Her character is especially interesting because of her relationship with her handler, Duke, whom she's still unsure if she can trust, yet ends up being loyal to her up until the bitter end. The fact that she avenges him by killing the seemingly stronger male character Simon, illustrates just how female-centric this movie truly is. Some movies will not fall in line with the 3 rules. This one I believe, is one of them.
