I remember two scenes where Linda speaks to Gail, but Gail doesn't actually speak to Linda. The first time, Linda switches gears and asks Erik the question instead before Gail responds. The second time, the scene ends and it transitions to Gail walking out of the house.
In both cases, if Linda had responded, the conversational topic would have been Erik and/or Dexter, each of their minor sons.
