In the beginning of the movie the two main female characters have a conversation about how Debbie (Uma Thurman) went blind at work and went to the ER. Her best friend, Beth (Juliette Lewis) tells her how she needs to learn to relax. They continue to the bar and have a conversation about hair spray in the bathroom and what type of drinks they will order.
While the content of this movie deals primarily with these two townies who are busy looking for love in the main divebar in town, it is sad and interesting and does pass the test.
Near the end of the movie, Debbie has a chat with her Mom (Gena Rowlands) about new furniture.
“ Moments of embarrassment and sadness over whelm you to believe that both characters are doomed to find happiness and to have fun with their lives. A somewhat happy ending, the movie identifies with the lives that these characters have. ”
