This was an otherwise gorgeous movie, but there’s only one exchange that I noted between two women, Valka and Astrid, and it was about Hiccup.

Narendra Martosudarmo disagreed with the rating and said:
In the beginning of the film, Astrid talked about how “sloppy” their latest rescue mission was, and Valka backed her up by saying that the Dragon Riders were relying too much on their dragons instead of each other. Also later on in the film, Astrid asked Ruffnut on how she escaped Grimmel and the warlords, and Ruffnut responded by saying that she “annoyed them until they let her go.”

I actually think this might pass. When Ruffnut returns after being held captive by Grimmel, Astrid asks her how she escaped and Ruffnut responds by saying, "I annoyed them until they let me go." I would say they're technically talking about Ruffnut's escape and not a man, even though the "they" refers to Grimmel and his people (which includes at least one woman if I remember correctly).

I think that this barely passes; at the beginning, after they free some dragons from trappers, Valka and Astrid exchange a few words about how they could have trained better. Later on, Astrid, Valka, and Tuffnut exchange a few words about the Light Fury.

When they rescue dragons at the beginning, Ruffnut struggles to open a cage and Astrid helps her, and they exchange a few words while doing so. They talk about opening a cage. It passes the test.

I agree as there is no girll talk except between valka, astrid and ruffnut. All of it is about hiccup, the dragons and the trappers, who are all male.

I realize I'm a bit late to the party but the movie does indeed pass the test! In the beginning of the film, Ruffnut says "Why can't I get this cage open?". Astrid says to her "It slides." and Ruffnut replies "Obviously." These are two named lead female characters who speak to each other about something that isn't a man! They face each other in this scene, with no other characters present, and there is a back and forth with Ruffnut's "obviously" which I'd consider allows it to be a conversation. I'm not sure if the ratings can be changed at this point or if anyone will see this, but it would be great if the rating was reconsidered :D thanks!
