Maria, the main female character (although stepping behind Maximilian, especially after they marry) does talk to women over the series: Her step mother and her maid (Johanna von Hallewyn). However, everything they talk about is a man (mostly Maximilian, sometimes Marias father) or men in general. It's not suprising: Although the story starts with the premise that Maria will be her father's heir and rule, it very soon becomes clear that the only politics she is able to make is the decision which man she can/will marry.
