Bechdel Test Movie List

In this movie, we have Padmé, her baby daughter Leia (does she count?) and Beru. Howevet Beru doesn't say anything in this movie...

And we also have a few female jedi characters, like Stass Allie, Luminara Unduli or Aayla Secura

If they had kept the cut scenes, then the movie would pass on all three counts, since there were cut scenes with Padme, Mon Mothma, and other Senators talking, and one of the others was also a woman. And they sure weren't talking about men.

How is this dubious? Padme and Leia are explicitly named. If memory serves, Beru is named on-screen, as well. While the female Jedi are only named in off-screen materials, we still have more than two named female characters, without any kind of contention!

Yeah ok, you have 3 female characters, but one doesn't talk, and one is a literal baby. The 3rd is designed to be Anakin's hot girlfriend lol. This does not pass.

Interestingly enough, if Lucas had kept many of the deleted scenes, the film would have passed. There was an entire subplot stripped from the movie in which Padmé joins with early members of the Rebel Alliance, including a young Mon Mothma. In those scenes (you can see on YT) Padmé talks quite a bit about democracy & the health of the Republic with Mon.

Yeah this is the only prequel that doesn't pass the test, Padme is The only named female character that speaks. The only other female character that speaks is the midwife droid that help her give birth, but she spoke an alien language and wasn't given a name. I'm not sure if droids count however.
