I don't know if this one passes! The two actresses ARE allowed to talk to each other -- and even kiss each other for no reason at all -- but the scene is really all about them trying to console each other about the men, who are driving them crazy. Natch. I love this movie but the women's roles are a joke.

Lesley and Laura have a conversation about whether Lesley has "made it" by being an actress on Broadway. The test is clearly passed regardless of the overall strength of the roles.

This movie is incredibly misogynistic. Mark Hughes' review in Forbes was excellent in this regard.

I think this is a rare situation where there are more women in the cast than men (5 important female characters--Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Lindsey Duncan, Andrea Risenborough and Amy Ryan--to 3 important male characters--Michael Keaton, Zach Galifinakis and Ed Norton) and the film narrowly misses the 3rd prong of the test. I'm tempted to give Birdman a full pass since the scene between Watts and Risenborough does touch on some different topics rather than men but it is a tricky situation

Agree with IM - the one and only conversation between women in this movie is about a man. The brief talk about "making it" is sandwiched right between explicit man-talk, and is only brought up by Lesley to express how unhappy Mike is making her, and to seek the reassurance Mike doesn't provide.

I also disagree with the ranking. The conversation was absolutely "man talk" and argument that it wasn't is quite thin. This is apart from the film overall being INCREDIBLY misogynistic.
