Bechdel Test Movie List

This represented a sort of rating dilemma for me because I am not sure that RoboCop is a man. The film very clearly shows that part-man, mostly machine RoboCop has no remnants of distinctively male genitals/body parts. IS he/it then considered androgynous?


Nonetheless, Clara Murphy, Liz Kline, and Chief Karen Dean all discuss RoboCop with each other at least briefly throughout the movie. It at least passes the first two parts of the test.

I would consider it to be a pass, if we take it as talking about the RoboCop 'product' and not about Murphy as a person

I would have to rewatch it to be sure if thats the case, but that would be my stance

This makes me sad because the tree old robocop movies had very strong woman characters. both in the first and last movie robocop kills two guys that are about to rape a woman and in both movies he says the same thing "she said no" in the last movie only woman characters are able to help robocop and the population of detroit. they are doctors, scientists, police women, hackers and even the leaders of the undeground militia like group that defends the city.

that was 20 years ago. and now the remake doesn't even pass a complete bechdel test. :'(

And yet Robocop 1 and 2 only pass 1 of the tests.

Robocop is male. Gender is in the brain not the genitals.

not only that, Marcel, but he's also referred as male by the characters and perceived as male by the audience. His design is masculine, his voice, etc. As a character, he's a male character, such as Wall-E

There's one of the two scientist having lunch that asks the scientist with big black glasses if she's hungry, that's the only interaction between two women
