This movie has seven named female characters: Cora, Katie, Jan, Cynthia, Marjorie, Melinda, and Estelle.

Katie and Cora are young girls, sisters, but never talk to each other. They are merely killed at the beginning of the movie, resulting in the circumstances where John is unfairly arrested for their rapes/deaths.

Neither of the wives, Jan or Melinda interact with one another. Estelle doesn't interact with anyone but Paul. I'm not sure that Cynthia and Marjorie are named in the movie, though they have names in the credits.

Jan and Melinda do talk (very briefly) about how Melinda is feeling and how she is coping with her illness, during the scene where Jan and Paul visit Melinda and Hal at their house.

This movie does in fact one of the three tests. As stated earlier there are several named female characters. However none of these characters speak to one another until 1:54:00 into the movie (almost towards the end). As stated by Kit, Jan and Melinda discuss how Melinda is feeling due to her illness. Yet this conversation is very brief and only lasts a maximum of 15 seconds. During the scene, Hal and Paul discuss Melinda's condition; yet you can see that Melinda and Jan continue to converse in the background but cannot hear what they are saying. I believe that this movie does pass 2 of the 3 requirements. It may be argued that it even passes all three yet because of how short the conversation is, it is quite ambiguous.
