Barely passes the third criterion, on account of a few brief exchanges between Celeste and Beth (about the wedding dress, about Celeste being drunk), and a few lines exchanged between Riley and Celeste about business (a graphic design mishap).

I wouldn't call it "barely", but I guess that's a matter of opinion. I would have said that it passed with flying colors. It's not every movie that passes the test with multiple exchanges that the main character has with multiple other characters.
