This wonderful George Cukor film passes the third test with a brief exchange between the title aunt and a hippie chick on a train named Tooley (Cindy WIlliams at age 25), about where they're respectively headed. This is not just a trivial character, but a set-up for the touching following scene between Tooley and the nephew.
