I agree with the rating -- the two conversations mentioned here are hardly conversations -- the mother tells the babysitter about the broccoli and the babysitter replies with an essentially one-word comment. I would count the daughter as an unnamed character -- she has very few lines in the film and none are significant.
Regarding the men -- yes they do. There's a long sequence in which Steve Carrell and Ryan Gosling discuss masculinity. While this aims toward romance, it's also about 'what it means to be a man.'

Gosh, it's a really simple test, are there more than two female characters who have names that talk to each other about something other than men. It's not about the depth or length of the conversation. Just an exchange of two words.
