This is a great movie about female friendship that really stands the test of time (I didn't think it would, I just wanted to watch it for nostalgia). There are no heroes or villians, just two women who are both loving and selfish, and who bicker like any longtime friends. They spend a lot of their conversations talking about their careers, and their hopes and dreams. Their conflict over a man they both sleep with takes a back seat to their disappointments over their own relationship. When Bette Midler complains to the dude, and she says, "what am I going to do without my best friend?" He says, "you have me." and her reply is, "It's not enough." This movie is better than you think it is.
