Bechdel Test Movie List

There are (only) two named female characters (Beans, the main love interest, and Priscilla, a little girl who occasionally offers commentary) but they don't converse.

There is a third named female character, Angelique, who talks with Beans fairly briefly, and not about a man.

I don't know if it counts, but as the posse rides back into town, Priscilla asks something like "Did you get the water?" and Beans replies "There weren't no water." Also there's an exchange between the fox secretary (angelique) and Beans I think was about Beans' father. So it passes 2 of 3 at least.

No, I felt like Angelique (who is a fox, ffs) and Beans mostly sniped about Rango.

There are actually eight women actors who voice ten characters.

I remember Angelique and Beans arguing a bit and throwing insults at each other, I clearly remember Beans calling Angelique a "tart" because I was surprised to hear that word in a PG film. I can't recall what else was really said though I have a feeling it was about a man either Beans father or Rango or both, but it passes the second test at least.

It passes all three tests.

There are more than 2 main characters that are female. Beans is the number 2 main character and Priscilla is pretty present throughout the movie. As mentioned by other Angelique is named and active in the movie. There are several other named females with little to no interactions.

Priscilla and Bean talk to each other, as does Angelique and Beans.

The Priscilla and Bean interaction was a discussion of water, not a male. The Angelique and Beans interaction was bile being spewed at each other for the better part of the conversation.

It definitely isn't the best example of including women fully in a movie, but it does meet the Bechdel Test. Rating is incorrect.

Rango passing the test depends very much on how "talk to each other" is defined.

If we take it very literally, then yes, Rango does pass the test. They talk 'to' each other.

If we were to interpret "talk to each other" as meaning "have a discussion", then I don't think Rango passes.

For me, a real "talk" or "discussion" has to have more than one line of dialogue each, and has to include some element of developing/acknowledging the ideas of each other or making a decision.

The Priscilla/Bean interaction was strange because Priscilla's question was sort of broadly directed at the whole posse coming in to town, not to Bean specifically for her expertise.

And the Angelique/Bean interaction was just a petty bitchfest, playing directly into feminine stereotypes. Gross.

Angelique, the fox, and Beans snipe back and forth, calling each other names. It’s a pass.

It might not be the best female representation. But it completes the test even if it’s only by feminine stereotypes. And that’s actually what matters during the betchdel test.
