Susan Orlean is shown talking to a female film producer about her book. On the other hand, the book's protagonist is a man and they do mention him. I'm not sure how well this works.

Just wanted to add that except for that one lunch scene, and Streep being in it, this movie is incredibly and Sophomoricaly male-centered with numerous disgusting sexual fantasy scenes about pretty much every woman who shows up. So far anyway--I'm halfway through and will only finish it because of Streep.
