There is only one significant female character - Edie. IMDb lists another (Mrs Collins), but I can't remember her doing anything at all.

I can't for my life understand how this still is so acclaimed (it's on imdb top 250 etc.) with gender stereotypes of that magnitude. Larry literary brakes in to Edie's apartment and forces himself on her.

It frightens me that so many people still are seemingly blind to what message portrayals like these send out.
