Roxanne Ritchi is the only female character with a Name. Not just a stated name, the only one with a name. It obviously fails miserably at the other two as well.

Yeah, the movie fails all three tests miserably. It's a shame, because there's actually a lot to like about Roxanne Ritchi as a character. Pity.

The movie passes the first level. Both Megamind's birth mother and Metroman's adoptive mother have lines. If you insist that the female characters have to be named, look at the credits - Metroman's adoptive mother is "Lady Scott".

The two mothers, while not being directly named an only having cameo appearances, still count as distinct characters. Including their own IMDB pages. This movie passes the first test.

I don't think it's sad that the movie fails. It's not a huge tragedy that I don't get to see Roxanne, a very strong female character, have a bunch of conversations with other women that would serve no purpose. This was not an anti-female movie, it was a movie that stayed on plot.

Agree with the rating -- watching the film you have no idea what the two female bit-parts (Megamind's mother and Metroman's adoptive mother) are called. If we were to allow them, the film would still only pass the first test.

In reply to Aubree, this kind of film is exactly what the Bechdel test reveals. The sole female main character is the only one without superpowers who is continually getting kidnapped and whose role is to fall in love with or not fall in love with the three male main characters. You can call it 'plot' if you like, but I think 'copy-paste from TvTropes' would be a fairer description.

It's a shame, because the Roxanne character was fun and the film would have been a lot better if it had... been completely different.
