I saw this recently, wasn't sure whether to disagree with the rating or not. First off, there is the character of Maggie, that's undeniable. But then there is, as IMDb puts it "Girl in Chock Full O'Nuts" Although that's clearly not the character's name, she was a big enough part of that scene (she had several lines) that I kind of feel like she should count as being another female character in the movie.

Hawkeye disagreed with the rating and said:
Escape from New York most certainly has more than one female character. Both "Maggie" (played by the wonderful scream-queen icon Adrienne Barbeau) and the mysterious "Girl in the Chock Full O' Nuts (In a 'cute' scene Kurt Russell flirts with and tries to save an unnamed character portrayed by his then-wife Season Hubley).

Also, there's a woman in a bath room about to be raped. She has no lines, and the main character coldly walks past (Main Character does NOT equal Good Guy here).

Factually speaking there are three women in the movie.

On top of those three characters, Jamie Lee Curtis (somewhat) famously delivered the opening monologue (She became famous after starring in John Carpenters previous film "Halloween"). Also Debra Hill, Carpenters long time producer voices a computer. Neither of them female "character" per-se, but Curtis's opening monologue is SO FREAKING COOL.
