Cinderella speaks with her Step-Mother, though the latter is actually scolding the former.

Drizella and Anastasia constantly bicker, unless they're listening in on Cinderella being reprimanded for something.

This is a clear example of the limitations of the test.

It passes with flying colors, (in fact, the men only talk about marriage and women)

Of course, the film is still fundamentally sexist- Cinderella is not allowed to be an active protagonist, even in the absence of anyone else to do so. The story is all things happening to her, she does almost nothing to further her goals.

At the end of the film, she is damselled and gets rescued by the male mice and dog.

This is one of the reasons I make another classification:
1. Films that don’t pass the Bechdel test
2. Films that do pass the test, but the only time the women communicate they are tearing each other or another woman down
3. Films that do pass the test, AND one (or more) of their conversations are supportive of each other or other women (building them up)

The Bechdel test isn’t the GOAL…it is the starting line.

Also, how easy would it be for Disney to make the animal companions female instead of male?! So many more films would pass the test, and the MC’s supporting character would be another girl/woman.
